Thursday 27

Spent the day in Addo which is about 40 km from the farm where we are staying.
On the way we drove next to the Shamwari game fence and came across 2 cheetah feasting on a fresh kill.
Addo seemed to have less elephant than when we were there a number of years ago.
Saw loads of kudu and other antelopes.
Eventually found a herd of elephant right on the road.  As they passed we could have touched them.
Had a unusual sighting of a rooikat stalking. It was at the side of the road and we had a really good view of it.  Launched itself onto it's prey in a bush which we could not quite see into.
Had coffee at the only food place which is a steak restaurant.  The camp lacks a snack type coffee shop so we bought crisps etc for picnic lunch.
Came across more elephant one of which got a little annoyed as I took close up photos of it. Had to depart in a hurry.
Went into Addo via the northern gate so drove down and came out the southern gate.
Came across a large plain where there were loads of elephants and other game.  My faith in seeing lots of elephants in Addo is restored.
All together it has been a great few days at Kenton and on the farm.
Time to move on tomorrow to Storms river mouth.
