Last leg
Today we are back on the black stuff, tar! Slept last night on the beach at one of the coastal camp sites. Had a nice braai with no wind at all. During the night the wind came up and tent flapped like crazy. However had a good nights sleep. On our way to Citrusdal warm baths for our last night. This morning I did manage to get us really stuck in thick sand. Sank to the axles. After much digging we still needed Jack to pull us out. Lesson 1-0-1 do not try and get out without diff lock as it sinks in worse!
Landy territory
Sunday - no cells phone signal. John is not feeling well so him and Joan have left us and are driving directly back to Cape Town today, we are on our way to Groen river mouth.
Sunday evening
Yvonne reading on the beach at our camp site. Overnighting at a beach camp on the West Coast. Going to be great listening to the waves crashing all night.

Skilpad Namaqua Nature Reserve
Turned south today, from Springbok . Tried coming down a canyon road but it was in a shocking state so turned around and used the N7 to Kamieskroon. Photo is a view from our chalet in the national park. Stunning. They had a cancelation so we are going to stay here 2 nights and forfeit a night on the beach.
Goegap
Could not sleep in the reserve last night as gate closed early. Anyway drove around today. Must come back next year a little later in flower season.

Going well
Just Leaving Calvinia. Has got to have been the coldest night that we have ever camped ! Went to Blue Naartjie restuarant for fantastic Karro lamb chops. Stocked up with local koek sisters. Next stop unknown but probably Springbok.
Tankwa National Park
Camping was good. Very cold nights but lovely warm days. Lots of flowers out despite being early season. Had 2 punctures - not funny.

Sunday 17 July
We are almost all packed and ready to go.
Jack and Sheila are coming tomorrow morning at 06h00 for an early (for the Martin's) start.
Meeting John and Joan at Worcester Ultra City for breakfast.
And then a slow drive via Ceres to Tankwa Karroo National Park for the first 2 nights of camping.
Weather looks good for the week and fairly warm so, hopefully we should see loads of wild flowers.
