At home

We are back home again after a great 8 day holiday with Thelma & Clifford and Elaine & Helmoed in the stunning Drakensberg.
We also accomplished 4 days of solid driving to get from Cape Town to Drakensberg and back. But this was also a pleasurable part of the holiday as we love a road trip especially through the Karoo and the Ladybrand area where we have not been before.
Spent a very pleasant afternoon and most comfortable accommodation with Brian & Crystelle in Ladybrand.

Home today

Sleptt last night at our favourite Three Sisters stopover, Travalia. Most comfortable and chatted around a fire to an interesting couple. He restores old cars and had an ancient Inspector Clyeso Citreon on a trailer he had bought on the Cape.

Last day on the road today and will be great to see the grandchildren today as we do miss them.

Wednesday #2

Took a drive to Estcourt to try and find the house that the girls lived in about 55 years ago. Could not find it but did find the area it was in.

Visited the Eskort Bacon Factory where they gave reintroduced red (healthy ? ) vienna sausages. Tried some but not as nice as they used to be plus they are pink and not really red.

Town reminded me of our road trips over 2 days from Pretoria to Durban when I was under 10.

Swam at resort in the afternoon and it was Yvonne and my turn to cater last night so we had a braai. Was a little concerned if my fire was adequate but the experienced braai master, Helmoed assisted and all turned out well.

Played 30 seconds. Guys won !! Not that we were competitive.

Last day in the berg today before we start the long drive home starting tomorrow.

Had a touristy day today.

Good breakfast and then set off to Cathedral Peak hotel under overcast skies.

Did a fair amount of walking to view sites. I managed fairly well considering that I have not had that amount of exercise for quite a few years!

Had to recover with waffles and milkshake.

Weather cleared at times to give us a brief glimpse of the Cathedral Peak and The Bell.

Back at timeshare where the unit has been fully cleaned including doing our breakfast dishes. Cannot get used to this so next trip has to be a camping one !
